Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the human brain which helps regulate and maintain the body’s sleep-wake cycle, which may be affected by a variety of factors, including but not limited to shift work, jet lag, age, or occasional interrupted sleep. Melatonin is produced when your eyes and brain are exposed to darkness, especially at night.
